College Hoops Sites:

Sites with useful info pertaining to college hoops (at least to me...can't forget RPI later on..):

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/saga
rin/bkt1011.htm
(some like statfox, I prefer the Sagarin "rating" & Predictor" for Power Rankings)

http://kenpom.com/rate.php (statistical info--unreal the things you can learn about teams on this site)

http://statsheet.com/mcb (very good stat breakdowns "side by sides", coaching head-to-head, referee stats, etc)

Western Kentucky Hilltopper Preseason look

What we lost:

AJ Slaughter -- Played Point and Shooting Guard and was out best FT shooter. He was open anywhere behind the arc and a game changer.  He leaves a void of 17.5 PPG, 4 Assists PG, 3 Rebounds Pg, and 36 minutes.  His Leadership will also be a huge loss for the Tops.

Jeremy Evans -- Played Power forward.  Excellent rebounder on both ends, excellent defender and shot blocker (changed numerous shots).  Averaged 10 PPG, and 7 rebounds per game.  Another key loss for the Tops.

Anthony Sally -- came off the bench mostly.  Gave us about 25 minutes per game.  Was better in his junior year.

Jordan Swing, Milosevic, Tipping -- came off the bench to steal minutes.  Swing looked like he could have developed into a pretty good player but decided to transfer.

Returning from last year:

Steffon Pettigrew -- Forward -- Strong upper body player, good jumper, who can spot up and knock down the 3, very good rebounder (both ends) and defender.  Played the 2nd most minutes on the team.  Had trouble at the FT line last year.

Sergio Kerusch -- Forward -- Sidelined by a foot injury for a big portion of last season.  He brings a noticeable "spirit" and energy to the lineup and is a good defender and rebounder.  He's capable of breakout nights on the offensive end.  Doesn't get to the line that much and like Pettigrew, he is an average/below average FT shooter.

Cliff Dixon (6'10 F/C)  was a Juco transfer last year and came off the bench to spell Evans.  Became an offensive threat (looked lost at the beginning of the season) in the middle of the season and faded down the stretch, good rebounder, decent defender, average/below average FT shooter.  I would expect major improvement from him this year (his second in KMac's system).

Caden Dickerson (6'4 Sophmore G) Good all around shooter looking to build off of a nice freshman season.  Logged several games of 25+ minutes.

Jamal Crook -- (6'3 Sophmore G) actually started double-digit games last year. Should build off of a good freshman season.  Pretty good defender from what I remember.

Additions figuring to see time:

Juan Pattillo (6'6 Sr. Forward) Sat out last year as a transfer from Oklahoma.  Will bring senior leadership to the team.  All I know about him is that he looked pretty good against UNC in the Elite Eight game a couple of seasons ago.  Should do very well in the Sun Belt.

Setphon Drane (6'7 Fr. Forward) McDonald's All-American nominee and a top 30 PF in his class according to Scouts Inc.

Dahlil McDonald (6'2 Jr. Guard)  Supposed to be a good shooter and was rated in the Top 15 JuCo prospects in the country

Brandon Peters (6'1 Fr. Guard) Don't know a lot about him other than he won a couple of state championships and a national championship as a senior.

Kene Anyigbo (6'5 Fr Forward) Top 100 Forward graded 87 by Scouts Inc who said Anyigbo is “a strong, tough, and physical combination forward that dominates games with his tremendous athletic ability” and he “finishes with authority above the rim in a variety of ways. "

Teeng Akol (6'11 SO Center) Know nothing at all about him other than he's a transfer from Oklahoma State and won't eligible to play until the 2nd semester.

Outlook:

AJ Slaughter and Evans will be missed without question and probably noticeably early in the schedule.  Our backcourt is young/inexperienced but if they can pickup the system it appears to have reasonable depth which should benefit the Tops later in the year especially in the SBC Tourney.  The frontcourt is undersized, but they are athletic enough to compete on the defensive end and steal offensive boards.  Can not afford any prolonged injuries to Kerush, Pettigrew, Dixon, or Pattillo.

Big Games: Minnesota (who IMO is a sleeper in the Big 10), Louisville, Vanderbilt (Who bring back a lot from last year's underrated squad) Memphis, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Murray State, St. Joes).

Best case scenario -- Win 20+ games (and 2 or 3 of the non-conference "big games"), Winning Sun Belt regular season & SBC championship, and drawing a favorable matchup to win a game or two in the NCAA tournament.

Poor Fella

If I found myself standing next to Robbie Hummel and severe weather was approaching, I'd get the hell away from him as fast as humanly possible.  Hate to see that for him and Purdue.
